We at Metzger’s Footcare can help to alleviate these problems through the use of corrective devices and shoes. My name is Jason Metzger; I have been in the shoe business for over 25 years and have been a Certified Pedorthist for over 5 years. A Certified Pedorthist has been trained in Pathology, anatomy, shoe construction, and modification, making custom orthotics, and being able to read doctors prescriptions. So come to our store and check us out. We will do an assessment of your structure to see if we feel we can help toy make your feet and joints happy thru our abilities.
The store will carry many euro-comfort brands as these have excellent support to them. By wearing such shoes it can be of benefit to your overall health. Some brands we will be carrying are: Dansko™, Finn Comfort™, Think™, and Naot™.
We will also be doing Diabetic Shoes through Medicare™. If you are on Medicare Part B, then you might be eligible to get a portion of the shoes paid for. And if you have a supplemental insurance, sometimes they will pick up the rest. A Doctor must certify that you are Diabetic and that you need the shoes. The shoes that qualify for this program are called extra depth shoes, and are also good for people that are not diabetic. They can be beneficial to people with arthritis, foot deformities or anyone that just wants a good comfortable shoe. Our main brand in this area will be P.W. Minor.
Athletes tend to have many problems with their feet and joints because they put additional stress on these areas. The proper shoes and correct support can greatly affect their performance. At Metzger’s Footcare we will put you in the correct shoe for your structure and problems, and add a support of some sort if necessary to create an even better fit. The brands we will carry will be Brooks Saucony™ and Asics.™
Even if you have the best shoe sometimes it is not enough and you need extra support. That is where inserts come in. We do custom and over-the-counter orthotics. Custom orthotics are the ultimate solution. These are specific to your feet, and will redistribute your pressure and help with your alignment. Proper alignment will take undue pressure off your joints, allowing them to work the way they were designed to - not the way your body has made them work. We will have many different ways to construct your orthotics and then fine-tune them once you have gotten used to them.
